The next meeting for Jasper County’s CERT Team has been set for Wednesday, February 26th. CERT stands for Community Emergency Response Team. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson says the team is made up of volunteers who are trained to help authorities when there are emergencies. Robinson started forming the CERT team back in September, and is looking for more volunteers.
“We will find a position for you. I have had CERT members who live in a wheelchair. I have had members who use canes. There is a job for everybody when it comes to supporting emergency services.”
Robinson says CERT members can help with search and rescues, clear debris from natural disasters, and assist at an Emergency Operation Center. The February 26th CERT meeting will begin at 6 p.m.in the Jasper County Emergency Operations Center at 1030 West 2nd Street South in Newton.
