The basketball teams of Pella High School are looking for critical wins in their pursuit of postseason home court advantage and to complete a season sweep of Pella Christian in the second winter sports meeting of the schools this evening.

Pella’s No. 9 in 3A boys (12-5 overall, 7-2 in LHC) and No. 13 in 4A girls (13-6 overall, 6-3 in LHC) took both matchups on Eagle Lane on January 10th, and will look to repeat the effort as they pursue late season momentum with the looming playoffs. The Eagles girls (7-11, 1-8 in the LHC) learned their postseason bracket earlier this week and the P.C. boys (8-10, 2-7 in LHC) will try to join their counterparts in building conference and a late season winning streak after sweeping Newton on Tuesday.

The Dutch girls have won eight in a row in the all-time series dating back to 2021, while the Pella boys are seeking their first season sweep in the series since 2022, as the Eagles have won three of the last five matchups, including both last winter.

This will have been the 50th meeting of the two schools in basketball since the year 2000 — they have played twice per year in that time frame.

Coverage begins at 5:45 this evening on 92.1 KRLS and Pella Dutch Live.
