In the closest game of the year that went right down to the final buzzer, the class 3A #3 Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad survived an upset attempt by Oskaloosa 66-64 on Monday night. The Panthers trailed most of the 1st half and were behind 33-31 at halftime, but Oskaloosa’s cold shooting and Knoxville heating up allowed the Panthers to take control late in the 3rd quarter to lead by seven. Knoxville upped that to 13 with 7:00 remaining in the game, but the Indians outscored Knoxville the rest of the way 16-5 but a missed three at the buzzer allowed the Panthers to come away with the win. Landen Norris led all scorers with 28 points, going 4/4 from the line in the final quarter. Lincoln Norris scored 13 points, and Koby Higginbotham had nine of his 11 in the 2nd half. The girls, in an all too familiar scene, fell behind in the 1st half and could not recover in a 68-47 loss to Oskaloosa. Knoxville had little to no answer for Oskaloosa’s Dasia Foster, who scored 27 points. Knoxville was led by Hannah Dunkin’s 18 points and Bridgette Liston’s career high 14. The girls are 4-16 and will travel to Fairfield to conclude the regular season tonight, while the boys are 18-0 and have equaled the best all-time regular season start in school history when the 1973/74 team also went 18-0. The boys will travel to PCM tonight. You can hear the call on 95.3 KNIA starting at 7:15.
