The Newton girls and boys basketball teams play their final Little Hawkeye Conference games of this season at Norwalk tonight. 

The Newton girls will take on an 18-1 Norwalk team that is currently ranked #5 in Class 4A. Meanwhile, the 9-10 Cardinals just snapped a seven game losing streak Saturday by defeating Des Moines Lincoln in Des Moines 65-35. Newton lost at home to Norwalk on January 14th 71-24. Norwalk outscored Newton 21-6 in the first quarter and led 44-16 at the half. The Cardinals committed 30 turnovers in that game, while Norwalk had nine.

The Newton boys also lost their first meeting with Norwalk 45-38. The game was tied at 13 at halftime, and the Cardinals were up by two points heading into the fourth quarter. But Norwalk outscored Newton 16-7 in the final eight minutes to get the win. The Warriors are 8-9 overall and 6-4 in the conference. The Cardinals conference record is 4-7, and they are 9-8 overall. Their last game was a 52-48 road win at Oskaloosa last Friday night, which ended a three game losing streak.
