The Knoxville Boys Wrestling Squad will head to Williamsburg on Saturday for the class 2A District meet. The young Panthers will try to get guys to the state meet next week and two have favorable chances to get through. Regan Roberts at 285 pounds just missed out on a chance last season and looks to make his first trip to Wells Fargo Arena. Also Tristan Sinnard, who went last season, wants another trip this time at 150 pounds. Coach Skylar Spaur tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Joe Finnegan, and Hunter Lund are others who could make a run. Spaur adds the teams at the district are very solid with a couple in the rankings and state duals.
Spaur: “Solon, Williamsburg and Eddyville. Williamsburg made state duals, and Solon was in the regional duals. Solon and Williamsburg also have good football programs so I expect some strong kids that we have to get through to make state.”
Along with Williamsburg and Eddyville-Blakesburg the Panthers will see Mediapolis, Mid-Prairie, Solon, Washington, and Mount Pleasant. Action is set to get underway at 10:00.
