Derek Lanser has been selected as the Marion County Sheriff Deputy of the Year by his peers. 

Deputy Lanser joined the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in 2017. Recently, Lanser accepted a role as the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Deputy. This new position highlights his passion for helping those in need, particularly individuals facing mental health challenges. A statement by the Sheriff’s Office on social media states:

“Deputy Lanser’s unwavering dedication to his profession, his commitment to excellence, and his genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others have not gone unnoticed.  His leadership, kindness, and determination are qualities that make him a truly deserving recipient of this honor.”
