The Des Moines Metro Opera has announced Scott Arens has been appointed as the company’s next Director of Advancement.
Scott brings over a decade of experience with Des Moines Metro Opera as both an administrator and a musician. He got his start at DMMO in 2014 as the music director and pianist for the OPERA Iowa Educational Touring Troupe, serving in this role for three years. During that time, Scott traveled over 18,000 miles across the state with the OPERA Iowa artists to present music education workshops and opera performances for elementary schools and communities. In 2016, Scott joined the full-time staff as Marketing and Campaign Coordinator, assisting the marketing department and fundraising efforts surrounding the renovation and expansion of the company’s administrative headquarters, the Lauridsen Opera Center. In 2017, he was promoted into the role of Director of Marketing and Public Relations.
