The Pella Christian girls basketball team begins their postseason journey tonight, hosting Colfax-Mingo in the first round of the Class 2A Region 5 bracket.

The Eagles enter tonight’s contest looking to bounce back from their 58-48 loss to Indianola, which closed  out the regular season on Thursday. Meanwhile, The Tigerhawks have been off since Tuesday, February 4th when they lost 63-30 against Class 2A #5 North Mahaska, who awaits the winner of tonight’s game between Pella Christian and Colfax-Mingo in the second round of the bracket on Tuesday. The Eagles and Tigerhawks have met just once in the Bound era, with Pella Christian winning that regional contest 46-23 on this exact date in 2020. Eagles head coach Brendan Foughty says that while they are hoping for a rematch of last season’s second round matchup at North Mahaska, they first have to fend off Colfax-Mingo.

“You’ve still got to take care of business, so it’s going to be important that our kids are locked in primarily on the defensive end. And we believe that if we play defense like we know we’re capable of, then the offense will work itself out. So hopefully we’re ready to do that.”

Coverage of Pella Christian’s home regional postseason game tonight will be broadcast live on 92.1 KRLS and the Pella Christian YouTube channel, beginning with pregame at 6:30 pm.
