
The PCM wrestling team had five wrestlers qualify for state as the girls basketball team routed South Tama in the opening round of Class 3A regional play Saturday.
The wrestling team competed at the Class 2A district meet hosted by Ballard. At the meet, five wrestlers punched their ticket to the state tournament including Kaliber Fry at 126 pounds, Bentlee Sloan at 132, Zach Richards at 138, Tucker Wheeler at 157, and Kaden Clark at 285. Fry and Wheeler were both district champions in their weight classes. The state wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines will start on Wednesday.
The PCM girls basketball team defeated South Tama 56-28 in the opening round of Class 3A Region 4 play. The Mustangs stayed in control all game and were led in scoring by junior Tori Lindsay who had 24 points. The Mustangs will now take on Albia Wednesday night at home in the regional semifinals.
