
The Knoxville City Council continued their annual budget presentations on Monday night and City Attorney Bob Stuyvsant announced his resignation.
At the meeting the Council saw budget presentations for Local Option Sales Tax, hotel/motel tax, and the airport. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nathan Sage also spoke about what the chamber was able to accomplish in 2024 and their goals for 2025. In other new business the council approved the framework for the 2025 municipal facade grant program and the final plat for the Veterans District Plat 2 subdivision.
At the end of the meeting City Attorney Bob Stuyvesant stated that it would be his last meeting and read a letter he wrote stating why he was resigning. Stuyvesant stated he was not happy with how the city handled the decision they were going through the process of hiring different legal representation. Stuyvesant was in the role for 37 years.
