People who are 100% disabled and those over the age of 65 can qualify for an elderly and disabled property tax credit through the Marion County Treasurer’s Office.

The Iowa Legislature allows a property tax credit based on total household income for residents of Iowa, aged 65 and older, or age 18 and older and totally disabled. The income is based on last year’s income and the requirements change annually.  The total household income for 2024 must be less than $26,219. Claimants can receive a maximum total tax credit up to $1000. To file for this credit or learn more information, visit the Marion County Treasurer’s website here.
