An Ames company that has provided popular free entertainment at the city of Newton’s annual community celebration in June, is officially coming back this year. Midwest Inflatables, LLC has provided various activities in a “Fun Zone” at Maytag Park for Newton Fest since 2019. Newton’s Community Development staff says the free attractions are meant for all ages and have grown over the years, and always draw a crowd to Maytag Park.
This year the City of Newton will pay Midwest Inflatables $7,500 to operate another fun zone for Newton Fest from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th. The activities that will be provided include Laser tag, a Mobile rock climbing wall, a 60 ft. obstacle course and a Caterpillar obstacle course, a 5 in 1 Combo Bounce House, a Go to the Zoo toddler inflatable, and nine holes of mini-golf. The $7,500 from the city will come from the budgeted Newton Fest expenses, which are paid with Hotel/Motel Tax revenue.
