A rare feat was accomplished by the Pella Christian One Act All-State Large Group Speech performers on Saturday. The group was selected as a critic’s choice for their performance of “The Other Room” and considered the best of that category in Iowa, as selected by a professional in the specific field. The group performed “The Other Room” at the 2025 Iowa High School Speech Association All-State Festival Saturday, along with their Musical Theatre show “Newsies.” Pella Christian senior and cast member of “The Other Room” Cassidy Bos said it’s been cool to see the group’s hard work pay off with their All-State Recognitions.

“It’s a huge honor and it’s also really exciting because I’ve gotten to grow as a performer and I’ve also got to grow in the groups that I’ve been a part of and so it’s just really exciting to get to take it one step further with the people that I’ve grown really close to.”

The Individual Speech District Contest will be held this Saturday. Pella, Knoxville, Pella Christian, Newton, PCM, Pleasantville, Melcher-Dallas, and Twin Cedars all compete in various categories as solo acts at Pleasantville High School.
