Warren County Health Services wants to remind parents about the importance of placing kids in booster seats before they are ready to wear just a seatbelt in a vehicle. Director Dr. Joelle Stolte tells KNIA News children should use a booster seat until they are at least 4’9″ and between 8 and 12 years old, and used when in between the weight limits of their car seat and when they can fit comfortably in a seat belt.

Dr. Stolte also said a seat belt fits properly when the lap belt is across the upper thighs, not the stomach, and the shoulder belt is across the center of the shoulder and chest, not across the neck or face, and not off the shoulder.
