One key to the Knoxville Boys basketball Squad’s success this season has been Tristan Stevenson. Stevenson, for the most part, has come off the bench to play post. At six feet two inches, he is not the typical size of a post player, but that has not stopped him from being one of the top rebounders on the team and his 66% field goal shooting always makes him a threat to score inside. Stevenson told KNIA/KRLS following the Panthers substate win over Keokuk on Monday, Stevenson has had fun playing inside and going against usually taller players this season.

Stevenson: “It’s been hard for some of them. That kid from Keokuk, Jaxon Clark, was a big, physical guy, but it’s been fun to go at them, and talk back with them during the games.”

Stevenson also started for a few games when Kaiden Smith was on the injured list late in the regular season. Stevenson added he was a little nervous his first start, but after a few times up and down the court it was like a normal game. Knoxville will take on Cedar Rapids Xavier on Tuesday in a class 3A State quarterfinal. You can hear that game live on your home for Knoxville Panther Sports 95.3 KNIA.
