Norwalk freshman Braylyn Birmingham was one of six players named to the Class 4A All-Tournament Team at the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines. Birmingham was recognized following the 4A state championship game on Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena.

Birmingham helped lead the Warriors back to the state tournament for the first time since 2007. She scored 16 points in the team’s 56-54 state quarterfinal win over Central DeWitt and led the way with 22 points in a 70-60 state semifinal loss to eventual champion Cedar Rapids Xavier. Birmingham made 15-of-21 free throws at state while totaling 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and one blocked shot.

On the season, Birmingham paced Norwalk with averages of 20.5 points and 4.1 assists while making 160 free throws in 204 attempts for 78.4 percent. She shot 52 percent from the field overall and 41 percent from three-point range, helping the Warriors achieve a final record of 23-2.

The 4A All-Tournament Team also includes Madden Wilson and Libby Fandel of Xavier, Becca Aagard and Abby Tuttle of North Polk and Melina Snoozy of Bishop Heelan. Fandel was named the All-Tournament Team captain.
