Designated hitter Dom DeLaPaz had two home runs and six RBIs to lead the Central College baseball team to an 18-6 win over Bethany College (W. Va.) Sunday afternoon to start the spring break trip in Florida.
It was DeLaPaz’s first career multi-homer game, and his six RBIs set a new career-high and tied the school record for RBIs in a game. Central was behind 3-1 through three innings before scoring three runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth inning. Beyond DeLaPaz, first baseman Chance Dreyer also had a three-hit game while right fielder Jaden Kramer and center fielder Max Steinlage had two apiece. Steinlage added a solo homer in the fourth. On the mound, Mark Kenney got the start and went four innings, striking out four with six hits and three earned runs. Xander Poock came on in relief to throw the final four innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits.
Central is back on the field in Florida at 9:30 am eastern time today for a game against Greenville University (Ill.).
