While the team featured minimal varsity experience entering the season, the Pella Christian boys basketball team had another successful year.
The Eagles, who are the lone team in the Little Hawkeye Conference that competes in Class 2A, had a majority of their success against schools closer to their size. Pella Christian posted a 6-2 record against other teams in Class 2A, with their two losses both coming to #4 Grand View Christian, and also posted four wins against teams in Class 3A. While the Eagles were hoping to pick up a few more wins this season, head coach Marv Van Wyk said it was a successful winter for a variety of reasons.
“With the win-loss record, it looks like a losing season, but I felt like it was a success in so many ways, because they battled hard, stayed together, and they just cared about each other. And that kind of attitude and that kind of mentality will take them a long way in anything they strive to do.”
Pella Christian ended the season with a 10-14 overall record and graduate seven seniors from the program.
