The Jasper County Board of Supervisors will be asked to approve a hiring resolution this morning for Ramond Maxey Jr as the new Director/Administrator of the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Office. . Maxey, a 24-year Marine veteran and recent Marshalltown Police Department retiree, was chosen by a selection committee and the Jasper County Veterans Affairs Commission. Jasper County Human Resources Director Dennis Simon received unanimous support for his recommendation to hire Maxey when he presented it to the five member Jasper County Veterans Affairs Commission last Wednesday.   

“We ended up interviewing seven people. But when it came down to it, we had two top candidates. Not everyone was 100% on who number one and number two were, but both those individuals were in one and two.”

Simon added the recommendation became more clear to the committee and commission when the other top candidate withdrew from consideration due to concerns about working evening hours. 

Today’s Jasper County Board of Supervisors meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the board room on the second floor of the Jasper County Courthouse in Newton.
