The Newton boys track and field team opened up the season Monday at the A.D. Dickinson Indoor Track and Field Meet at the University of Northern Iowa. 

While no team scores were kept, the Cardinal boys picked up four top twenty finishes in the meet, with Nick Milburn leading the way with an eighth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 50’ 2’’. Nick Thomason, Reilly Trease, Caden Klein, and Christen Ergenbright took tenth in the 4×200 meter relay in 1:35.95. Klein also finished 11th in the 60 meter dash in 7.05, while Trease placed 17th in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.71. 

The Newton girls track and field team will also kick off their season today at the University of Northern Iowa, competing in the same meet which will begin at 2 p.m.
