
The Newton Girls Track and Field team opened up their season Tuesday afternoon inside the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, competing against over 100 schools in the Dickinson Relays. No team scores were kept during the meet..
The Newton girls had four top 20 finishes, led by junior Lauren Clarke, who took 11th place in the 60 meter dash (8.11). The 4×800 relay team of Harper Barton, Audrey Muckler, Bella Winther, and Peyton Ray also finished 11th (10:28.95). Camryn Klein joined Clarke, Barton, and Winther on the 4×400 relay team that placed 14th (4:19.05), while junior Tori White took 16th in the High Jump (4’10”). Cardinals head coach Rachelle Tipton said that overall, it was a great way to start the season. She added that she reminded the team that May is the goal, and this first meet was a strong foundation to begin with.
The Newton girls track and field team will return to action later this week, competing at the 2025 IATC Indoor Championships on Friday at Iowa State University.
