This past Monday, the Newton boys track and field athletes began the season inside the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls at the Dickinson Indoor Track and Field Meet. The competition on the University of Northern Iowa campus featured schools from all across the state, and participants were not broken down into separate classes. No team scores were kept in that meet, but the Cardinals captured four top twenty finishes. Nick Milburn was eighth in the shot put, while Nick Thomason, Reilly Trease, Caden Klein, and Christen Ergenbright took tenth in the 4×200 meter relay. Klein also finished 11th in the 60 meter dash and Trease placed 17th in the 60 meter hurdles.
On Friday, the Newton girls track and field team will travel to Ames to compete in the 2025 IATC Indoor Championships.
