Led by their five seniors, the Norwalk girls bowling team put together a successful 2024-2025 season this past winter, winning nine dual meets along the way.
The Warrior girls finished 9-2 overall, including quality wins over Knoxville, Bondurant-Farrar, Newton and Gilbert. Their only losses came against eventual state qualifier Oskaloosa and Sigourney-Keota.
Senior Julia Palen led the Warriors with a 154 average and was named second team All-Conference. Palen was a state qualifier in 2023. Seniors Ellery Racz and Elivia Stout both averaged just shy of 144 pins per game. Racz bowled the team’s high game of 203 and high series of 371. Stout was voted the team MVP. Anna Curran and Atto White round out the Warriors’ senior group while freshman Eva Smith and junior Kerrianne Berry also bowled on the varsity squad.
Norwalk coach Russ Greenwood tells KNIA Sports that he is very pleased with the girls’ consistency throughout the season, adding that the five seniors meant a lot to the program. “Every single one of them holds a little dear spot in my heart for the effort that they’ve put forth, not only this year but previous years as well… They’ve progressed throughout, increasing their average every single year, and I’m just so proud of them.”
Norwalk finished the season by placing fifth in the Two Rivers Conference Tournament and fifth in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Keokuk.
