The United Way of Jasper County’s free guest speaker series “Voices of Inspiration” returns tonight with a southeast Iowan who established a non-profit organization that has helped the country of Nepal rebuild from a devastating 2015 earthquake. United Way of Jasper County Executive Director Jessica Lowe Vokes says Ernie Schiller started “Rebuild Nepal Education Foundation”, and former Newton resident Nathan Unsworth is on the non-profit’s board of directors.

“Him and Ernie and their group are going to go back to Nepal this summer. They are going to talk about their previous visits. I hope people take away that all of us have the ability to help someone else. Whether it’s our neighbor, someone in the community or halfway around the world”.

Vokes says the “Voices of Inspiration” series is free due to financial support from several local sponsors. DMACC donated the use of the auditorium on the Newton Campus to host the series. Tonight’s event begins at 6:30 p.m. Seating is first come first served, with doors to the auditorium opening at 6 p.m.
