Jasper County Auditor Jenna Jennings says property owners across the state are receiving a new mailing with information about the proposed property tax rates for the next fiscal year. She stresses this budget statement is not a property tax bill, but is a document that contains information about taxes payable this coming September, and in March 2026. It also lists the date, time, and location of public hearings for county, city, and school proposed property tax levies, as well as the phone numbers and websites for these taxing entities.
The Jasper County Auditor notes smaller taxing districts like community colleges, agricultural extension services, and townships are not included in the mailing. Jennings adds Iowa Code requires these budget statements be mailed to property owners no later than March 20 of each year, to provide taxpayers with budget information about the proposed city, school, and county tax rates. Additional information regarding the budget statement can be obtained by contacting the Jasper County Auditor’s Office at 641-792-7016.
