It is a little over the month until sprint cars will be roaring around the Knoxville Raceway. One driver who will not be at Knoxville as often as he has in the past is Austin McCarl. McCarl, who is the defending 410 Track Champion at Knoxville, is planning to run a combined schedule between World of Outlaws and High Limit races. While he is not committing full time to either series, McCarl tells KNIA/KRLS sports it is time to branch out and see how he does against some of the best drivers in the country.
McCarl: “So you have to get experience and for lack of a better term fail, and come back better the next time. I think I have a great package for Knoxville and Husets and other tracks in the Midwest and now it is the time to go out with our partners and run these other tracks and learn.”
McCarl says he will run at Knoxville when he can and does not rule out the potential of coming to Knoxville when a nearby Outlaw or High Limit show has rained out and the weather looks good in Knoxville. KNIA will once again have flag-to-flag coverage of all sprint car action from the Knoxville Raceway in 2025 with Live Track Side and Race Nights Live. Also hear a full interview with McCarl during week two of the Matt Moro and Karl Chevrolet Sprint Car Racing Radio Preview Show in our on demand section on the KNIA Mobile App.
