Building off of last spring’s runner-up finish at the State Meet, the Pella Christian girls track and field team proved they’ll be a force in Class 2A again this year at the 2025 IATC Indoor Championships in Ames on Friday.

Sending six athletes to the Lied Recreation Athletic Center at Iowa State University, the Eagles dominated in their four events, winning all of them en route to a second place finish with 50 points. Starting off the season strong, the sprint medley relay team of Lexi Terpstra, Meredith Van Wyk, Rachel Kacmarynski, and Bailey Vos set a new meet record with a time of 1:47.92. In addition to the record and winning the event, the sprint medley relay quartet finished below the Blue Standard of 1:49.00 to qualify for the Drake Relays in mid-April. The Eagles then had three individuals compete in the 200m dash and brought home a 1-2-7 finish. Van Wyk nabbed first place with a time of 25.51, just edging Kacmarynski’s second place time of 25.63, and both girls broke the meet record by over a second. Not far behind Meredith and Rachel was Terpstra, who finished in 7th place with a time of 26.94. Two events later, the Pella Christian 4x100m relay team of Terpstra, Kacmarynski, Ani Bell, and Van Wyk also set a new meet record, winning the event in a time of 50.54 seconds. In the final event of the Indoor Championships, Kacmarynski, Van Wyk, Maisy Meinders, and Vos teamed up to win the 4x400m relay, while breaking their fourth meet record with a finishing time of 4:05.97. In addition to winning all four events in which she participated, Van Wyk was also named the IATC Indoor Championships Class 2A Outstanding Athlete at the meet.
