The Newton girls track and field team had six top ten finishes Friday in Ames at the Class 3A IATC Indoor Championships at Iowa State University. As a team, the Cardinals tied for 18th out of the 27 Class 3A schools at the meet. 

Newton senior Tori White took 5th in the High Jump (5’1”), while junior Lauren Clarke tied her personal record in the 200 meters (26.16) and placed 6th. Clarke also claimed 8th place in the 60 meter dash (8.12) and junior Harper Barton finished 9th in the 1500 meters (5:15.11). The 4×800 team of Barton, Alex Riney, Alexis Sorensen, and Bella Winther finished 7th (10:20.32), while the 4×400 team of Winther, Riney, Barton, and Clarke placed 8th (4:18.79). Winther just missed a top ten finishing 11th in the 800 meters (2:29.24) Mack Sims also placed 11th in the 60 meter hurdles (10.32) 

The Newton girls track and field team is off until next Friday, March 21st, when they compete in the Central College Indoor track and field meet in Pella.
