
It was nearly a clean Dutch sweep of the indoor track and field championships hosted by the Iowa Association of Track and Field Coaches this week, but the Dutch did earn a share of the top trophy at the girls event held in Ames Friday, a day after the boys won the 3A title.
Pella’s girls scored 54 points to share the 3A championship with North Polk in the first major meet of the spring season, which featured 27 teams in Class 3A. Top eight finishes for the Dutch included:
200 Meters – Mara Schiebout, 7th (26.38)
400 Meters – Lizzie Neumann, 1st (59.22)
800 Meters – Raegan Snieder, 8th (2:27.46)
1500 Meters – Carleigh Altwine, 7th (5:08.58)
3000 Meters – Marissa Ferebee, 2nd (10:30.54); Ruth Dunham, 5th (11:05.24)
Shot Put – Katie Scheckel, 4th (36-04.75)
Shuttle Hurdle – 5th (Brand, Parks, Park, Riddick) – 41.98
4×400 – 1st (Barnes, Punt, Schiebout, Neumann) – 4:06.56 (Indoor State Meet Record)
4×800 – 3rd (Dunham, Punt, Altwine, Snieder) – 10:11.99
