The Newton School District is on Spring Break this week and the Newton YMCA is helping parents keep their young children busy. The YMCA is hosting Spring Break Camp today through Friday for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Newton YMCA Child Care Director Serenity Bookout says the camps run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at both Thomas Jefferson and Emerson Hough Elementary schools. A limited number of kids can attend the camps and pre-registration was required. Bookout says during the week the campers will have field trips to bowl at Cardinal Lanes in Newton and to swim at the YMCA. Other activities throughout this week will include games and sports, arts and crafts, and reading.
