A special live blues music performance will be held tonight at the Newton Public Library. The free performance from Dewey Cantrell is part of the Blues Under the Blue Roof concert series sponsored by the South Skunk Blues Society, The Arts Connection, and the Newton Public Library Foundation. 

Cantrell is a blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Des Moines. He picked up his first guitar more than 50 years ago, and says his music has been influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, and the British invasion of blues based guitar rock of the 60’s and 70’s. His free concert from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. this evening will be held in the Newton Public Library’s meeting room, and all ages are welcome.
