A Knoxville man has been arrested for felony attempted burglary.

According to court records, on March 20th at approximately 1:29 am, Knoxville Police Officers were dispatched to W Pearl St. for a report of Brandon Pettyjohn banging on the homeowners’ windows and door, while also making threats. Pettyjohn allegedly attempted to force entry into the residence numerous times by either kicking/banging on the front door and/or attempting to forcibly open the door handle. While also attempting to force entry, Pettyjohn is accused of making threats of physical harm/violence towards the homeowner and repeatedly told the homeowner to let him in. The homeowner stated that she believed Pettyjohn was attempting to break into her residence and that she was also placed in a state of fear that Brandon was going to inflict harm upon her if he made entry into the residence.

She subsequently locked herself in a bedroom. The Marion County Dispatch Center informed Officers that they could hear Pettyjohn making threats towards the homeowner while they were on a 911 call with her. When officers arrived at the residence, Pettyjohn was standing outside and began to walk to the patrol vehicles. Pettyjohn had an unsteady balance and an uncoordinated walk, according to police. A strong odor of consumed alcoholic beverages were emitting from Brandon’s breath in addition to heavily slurred speech, but he refused to submit to a preliminary breathalyzer test.

Pettyjohn is charged with Second Degree Attempted Burglary, a Class D Felony and Public Intoxication. Pettyjohn was arrested in January for a felony arson threat.
