The Twin Cedars Schools PTO is hosting two fundraising events in an effort to help support the renovation of the elementary school library.
Twin Cedars elementary students are participating in their first Read-A-Thon through Friday, in which they are tracking their reading and collecting pledges for the library renovation. In addition to the Read-A-Thon, the Twin Cedars PTO is also holding a silent auction throughout this week, which will end at their Spring Carnival on Saturday. The spring carnival will feature inflatables from Lazer Alley, 15 carnival games, a cake walk, food trucks, the prince/princess crowning, a free throw challenge, and the bid sheets for the silent auction. Vice President and Treasurer of the Twin Cedars PTO Kelsie Weldon says that the silent auction has over 100 items to bid on, and they are hopeful to raise $6,000 through the auction. Weldon says that the renovation of the library will help enhance the student’s experience in the library in three areas.
“We’re going to add and replace all the bookshelves, and we’re going to add a lot of seating. Right now, there’s not really a lot of seating where the kids can just relax and hang out in the library. And then also, we’re going to reuse a space and make it a maker space, and that’s kind of a create space, STEM activities, just open ended creation.”
