A mix of experience and first year players are among 22 girls out for tennis at Knoxville this spring. The Panthers will be led by returning South Central Conference Champion Janie Maasdam as she will likely be Coach Nick DeMoss’s #1 singles player. However DeMoss says #2 on down is still up in the air with challenge matches being played in the next week.

DeMoss: “Right now it is a battle, we did some challenge matches last Friday, but it was pretty windy. I’m excited about our depth, and just ready to play some teams and see how we stack up.”

Returning players in addition to Maasdam will be Iselynn Prevo, Marlea Cox, Bridgette Liston, and Ashlynne Marvelli will figure into varsity positions along with new players out this season Jordyn Counts, Addy Dunkin and Macy Cox are all looking to fill varsity roles. DeMoss likes the depth and many of the girls are athletic enough that he can teach them some tennis strategies and they can be competing. Listen for a full interview with DeMoss on Saturday’s Hy-Vee Radio Coaches Corner on KNIA/KRLS at 9:00am..
