The Newton boys soccer team has their last scrimmage tonight against Des Moines North at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines. After graduating 16 seniors from last year’s squad, Head Coach Zach Jensen will be looking for some offense from his young team. They were shut out in Monday’s scrimmage at Washington. 

“That’s one thing we have been working on this week. We have got to figure out how to hit the back of the net. We have got the depth and the pieces to score. We just have to do it and focus and concentrate in the final third of the game.”

 The one returning starter for the Cardinals from last year is senior Landon Bozarth, who has started every game since he entered high school. Bozarth is a co-captain on the team, with fellow senior Austin Kennedy.

After tonight’s 7 p.m. scrimmage in Des Moines, the Cardinal boys soccer team will open the season on Tuesday, April 1st at Norwalk.
