The Norwalk boys track and field team won two events and placed in the top four of eight others at Thursday’s Waukee Northwest Early Bird Relays. Team scores were not kept at the meet.

The Warriors’ top highlight on the track was a Blue Standard time in the distance medley relay. The team of Eli Robbins, Kaiden Kunze, Daniel Roche and Tony Anania qualified for the Drake Relays with a winning time of 3:30.85. Kunze, who qualified for Drake in the long jump earlier this season at the Dickinson Relays indoor meet, improved his Blue Standard mark by three and a half inches on Tuesday, placing first with a leap of 23 feet, 10.25 inches.

Anania placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.61. Norwalk also placed second in both the sprint medley and 4×100 relays. The sprint medley consisted of Xavier Bush, Kadan Borcherding-Johnson, Tim Koerselman and Cameron Thomas. The 4×100 team members were Borcherding-Johnson, Logan Atherton, Robbins and Kunze.

Atherton placed third in the long jump while four other Norwalk athletes placed fourth: Robbins in the 200, Bush in the 400, Sam Parker in the mile and Aksel Beedon in the 3,200.

The Warriors’ next meet is the Warren County Relays on Monday at Simpson College.
