Looking to improve on an 8-8 season in 2024, the Pella Christian boys soccer team is working to maximize their potential this spring.

The Eagles finished last year with 38 goals scored to 32 goals allowed, but despite outscoring their opponents, had five of their eight losses come by two goals or less. Head coach Mike Vander Molen says that while they were consistently in those matches, there was more they could have done to pick up a few more wins.

“There’s a couple times when, we didn’t give games away, but I think we could have come out with a victory and we didn’t. So, we just need to make sure that we are playing smart soccer and that we’re playing in a manner that’s responsive to the score, but we’re just looking to maximize what we can be this season. We don’t put set goals on saying we want to get to this level of the playoffs or that level of the playoffs, we want to get better in training everyday and if you do those things then you’ll maximize your outcome at the end of the season.”
