The City of Knoxville is seeking interested parties who would like to purchase a city owned property.
Under Iowa Code Section 657A, the City of Knoxville is now the owner of a property located at 710 W. Washington St. The process was initiated after the dwelling sustained substantial fire damage on March 1st, 2024 and was deemed uninhabitable.
Due to the current condition of the dwelling, it must be demolished. Since the loss exceeded 75% of the value the City received $10,000 reserved for demolition of the property. The City is currently seeking parties interested in purchasing the property and taking on the demolition of the dwelling. The funds the City received for demolition would be extended to the new owner to assist in covering the demolition costs.
Interested parties may submit an offer to the City of Knoxville by mail to City Hall 305 S. Third Street or by email to hussery@knoxvilleia.gov . Offers should include: name and contact information of the individual submitting the offer, proposed purchase price, and information describing demolition schedule and plans for the property.
Offers will be accepted between March 18th and April 15th, and will be presented to the City Council for consideration at a public hearing on April 21st.
