BREAKING UPDATE (5:50 a.m. on Tuesday 4/1):

As what remains of the Two Rivers Cooperative fertilizer storage facility in Otley continues to burn and smolder, residents in town are once again placed under a “recommended” evacuation notice or have been asked to shelter in place.

Emily Feagins with Marion County Emergency Management says the remaining sulfur is what’s causing the smoke to continue, which can cause respiratory issues if inhaled.

Those impacted by the notice are all residents in the town of Otley, and residents living between Washington and Baldwin Streets, as well as State Highway 163 to Business Highway 163.

Those needing temporary shelter should contact Marion County Emergency Management at 641-828-2256 ext. 2. and leave their name and contact number.
