The Knoxville Mock Trial team placed 9th at the state competition over the weekend. The team had the 3rd highest score in the meet, and the final placement was determined by wins and losses. Janie Maasdam earned one of 12 All-State honors for Outstanding Attorney. Honorable mentions were awarded to Celia Marean, Tyler Bull, and Averie Staton. This was the sixth time in the last seven years that Knoxville’s Mock Trial Team participated in the state meet. This year’s teams were coached by Knoxville Teacher Lisa Hermsen, Iowa Deputy Attorney General Ed Bull, and Assistant Marion County Attorney Bryce Volk.
