The Marion County Conservation Department will be holding an Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 13th.

The educational event will be held at the Marion County Extension Office with many different activities throughout the afternoon. The event will include special guests, a story time, exploring animals of Iowa, an Iowa archaeologist guest speaker, crafts and seed balls, a recycling center, displays and door prizes, and the Iowa State University insect zoo. Marion County Naturalist Karen Johlas-Szalkowski says the conservation department treats each day like it’s Earth Day.

“People in the conservation field definitely celebrate Earth Day everyday. We’re always looking out for ways to improve habitat for wildlife or cleaning up the trails and just spending time outside and sharing that appreciation.”
