Four sports are going today for Knoxville with two serving as the home team in the match up. Boys tennis will open the season against state power North Polk at the Joel Tonda Tennis Courts, while girls track and field will run its second outdoor meet of the season at the DeWitt Relays at Clarke. Boys and girls soccer will be at opposite venues with the boys traveling to Carlisle and the girls staying home to host the Wildcats at Randy Wilson Track. The boys are coming off of a draw against Southeast Polk that felt like a win. Coach Dylan Mick tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his senior leadership is key to his team’s success this season.
Mick: “Since their freshman year they haven’t left the field for us, and they know that this season and we just want to get better than a substate final, we’re chasing a state final or something like that.”
The girls lost their season opener on Tuesday to Indianola eight/nothing. The boys are set to start up at seven, while the girls still get going at five-30.
