The Norwalk girls golf team opened the season with a winning score of 178 on Wednesday, defeating Des Moines Lincoln by 58 strokes in a nine-hole dual at Willow Creek.

Norwalk sophomore Evelyn Kinney earned medalist honors with a round of 39 in extremely windy conditions. The Warriors’ team score also included a 45 by junior Addie Smith, a 46 by senior Mariola Torro Abad and a 48 for senior Lydia Krueger. Norwalk returns to action on Monday for the Waukee Northwest Invitational at Norwalk’s Legacy Golf Club.

Thursday Schedule

Three Norwalk teams will compete today. Boys tennis will host Boone at 4:00 p.m. Girls track and field travels to Ankeny and boys track and field is in Indianola. Both meets start at 4:15.
