The Jasper County Board of Supervisors have unanimously approved the appointments of Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson and Mary Robinson, a hospitalist at MercyOne Newton, as medical examiner investigators. Jasper County Medical Examiner Dr. Parick Edwards asked for the appointments to replace two investigators, who were the last two Jasper County Sheriffs.

“Sheriff John Halfery is no longer actively doing this and Sheriff Mike Balmer is still active, but not very active. So that puts us down two medical examiner investigators.”

Dr. Edwards noted Jamey Robinson is already a certified medical examiner Investigator, while Mary Robinson and Mollie Bottorff, another recently added medical examiner investigator, need to complete a three day certification class in Ankeny. Dr. Edwards says the total cost for both Robinson and Bottorff to take the class in June is approximately $1,000, and he’s pursuing a state grant to cover that expense.
