The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening, considering an appointment to fill the vacant Indianola City Council position. The council interviewed five candidates, narrowing the selection down to two candidates, Eric Martens and Bob Lane, neither of which received enough votes to be appointed to the position. The council elected to table the issue, and continue discussions at their next meeting.

The council approved a development agreement with Sunstone Investments, and gave direction to city staff to explore amending the Urban Renewal Plan to install a traffic light at the corner of Kentucky and Jefferson Ave, which would cost approximately $700,000 and be paid for using TIF funds. The council also approved the plat and site plan for Summercrest Hills North Athletic Facility.

The council also discussed open positions within the city, giving direction to fill vacant positions at the Water Resource Recovery Department, lifeguards at the Indianola Wellness Campus, and both part time and full time positions in the Indianola Fire Department.
