splash-pad

A plan for landscape features at Newton’s new Splash Pad Park has been developed. The park between Newton’s downtown and Legacy Plaza will be open for the first time this summer. Newton’s Senior City Planner, Varsha Borde, has a rendering of the landscape features proposed with input from the city’s Parks Department and Newton Main Street. The features create an enclosure around the splash pad with benches, limestone seating and landscaping. A natural barrier of ornamental grasses is proposed along the perimeter.

One year old umbrella shade structures taken from Maytag Pool when it was upgraded last year will get new canvases and be used at Splash Pad Park. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says this landscaping proposal is an economical approach to accomplish what the Newton Park Board recommended, and can be completed in-house by city staff.
