Six Newton High School spring sports teams are scheduled to be in action today. 

The Cardinals girls golf team will host seven other schools at the Newton Girls Invitational at 2 p.m. PCM, Pella, Grinnell, and Norwalk will be among the teams competing in the tournament at Westwood Golf Course. This will be the first meet of the season for the six member Newton girls golf team led by returning players Kalleigh Berndt, Addison Hook, Evie Main, and Addie Ratcliff.  

The Cardinals girls soccer team will host Ballard at 7:15 p.m. Newton is coming off a 3-1 loss at Pella Christian on Tuesday, and will look to bounce back against an 0-4 Ballard squad.

The Cardinals girls and boys tennis teams play Indianola at 4:15 p.m., with the 1-2 girls hosting the Indians at Aurora Heights Park and the 1-1 boys traveling to Indianola.

Both Newton track and field teams will compete for the second time this week, running in the Oskaloosa Relays at 4:15 p.m. Both Cardinals squads won the South Tama Coed Early Bird Invitational on Tuesday.
