
The Indianola boys and girls tennis teams continued Little Hawkeye Conference action against Newton on Thursday, while the boys soccer team hosted Ankeny at home.
The Indianola boys tennis squad won a narrow match against the Cardinals 7-4. Getting wins in singles included Eli Chadwick, Blake Allen, and Reid Jackson, while the doubles teams of Bryson Rehmeier/Chadwick, Tate Dales/Jackson, Andrew Little/Owen Nelson, and Jack Brown/Karter Larsen all earned victories. The squad matches up with Knoxville on Monday.
The Indianola girls dominated in their matchup, winning 9-2. Singles winners were Emily Allen, Zoey Belt, Maci Lerseth, Lauren Danielson, and Paige Dahl, while the doubles teams of Allen/Belt, Lerseth/Danielson, Dahl/Makenzie Sloan, and Ashley Schultz/Peyton Rinard. The Indians will next hit the court on Tuesday hosting Pella.
The Indianola boys soccer team got out to a 1-0 lead over Ankeny, but couldn’t hold on as the Hawks earned a 4-1 victory. Anson Mount knocked a header into the goal off of a corner kick in the first half, but the Hawks tied the score to go into the half 1-1. Ankeny then added three more in the second half to get to the final tally. Indianola falls to 1-3 on the season, and will next play Tuesday hosting Newton.
The Indianola boys sent a JV contingent to Van Meter, placing 5th overall scoring 64 team points. Top finishers included Luke Gordon third in the 200m, Owen Welling third in the 3200m, and Max Bauer fourth in the Discus. The boys will compete tomorrow at the Jim Duncan Invitational.
