Knoxville Boys Golf and Boys Tennis were in action on Friday.

Boys Golf Wins Home Triangular

Boys golf won a triangular over Pleasantville and Carlisle with the Panthers nipping the Trojans by two strokes 146-148 while Carlisle shot a 173. Grant Gerdes and Hayden Keefer led Knoxville with runner-ups as both shot a +1 36. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it is good to play teams in this area, but he wants to see his guys challenged a little more, so a few times this season the Panthers will venture out of the area to play in meets against teams they do not see but once a season.

Smith: “Our pattern is trying to get away from seeing the same teams all the time. We do go to the Moravia Tournament that has 22 teams. If we can put the boys in an environment that challenges them then we’ll be better for it.”

Luke Roozeboom shot a 37, Brady Roozeboom also had a 37 with Mikey DeVos carding a 39 and Urban Ziller shooting a 40. The Panthers have 11 days off before their next meet which is a home dual against Van Meter on April 22nd.

Boys Tennis Gets First Team Win Of The Season

Knoxville won five of six singles matches including Ethan Russell at #1, Jimmy McCormick at #2, TaShawn Conner at #3, Everett Schmidt at #5 and Price McDanel at #6. Knoxville swept the doubles matches. Knoxville will travel to Indianola on Monday.
