The Norwalk boys soccer team lost a close match against Spencer on Saturday morning while the boys tennis team competed in the Johnston Tournament.
Boys Soccer
Barely 12 hours after beating Denison 3-0, the Warrior boys soccer team lost to the Tigers 3-2 at Mineart Field. Eli Scavo scored both Norwalk goals, assisted by Henry Groos and Matthew Lane. The Warriors took 17 shots on goal, led by Tavin Ferner with seven, compared to just seven shots on goal by Spencer.
The difference in the match was penalty kicks as the Tigers made their one PK and the Warriors missed their only attempt. Jacoby Robbins tallied four saves for Norwalk, which dropped to 3-1-1 overall. They will host Oskaloosa in a Little Hawkeye Conference match on Tuesday night.
Boys Tennis
At Saturday’s Johnston Boys Tennis Tournament, Norwalk’s Drew Lents and Corbin Oswald competed in singles play. The Warrior doubles teams included Braylon Stockwell and Tyler Stiegelmeier, Lane Juergens and Eli Mills, and Wyatt Coburn and Isaac Lors. The Warriors’ next meet is Tuesday at Pella Christian.
Today’s Schedule
Only two Norwalk spring sports teams have events scheduled for today. The girls tennis team travels to Ames for a dual meet at 4:00 p.m. and the Warrior boys track and field squad hosts a seven-team meet at 4:30.
